Illustration Friday Instinct

So, yeah. This is so utterly, completely, horrifyingly mortifying--which is why I'm doing it, and doing it quickly before my rational side takes over. I found this site, Illustration Friday, that just seemed like a fun exercise in creativity. And a great way to humiliate myself, which is always fun.

The prompt last Friday was "Instinct," and this is what I was inspired to doodle. It is, obviously, ink, so (God help me!) no corrections--which is always fine for the doodling I do that ends up in a shoebox or garbage bin... But to post a rough sketch/doodle just for the fun of it? In imperfect ink? With a hand that turned out too small? For no reason whatsoever?

(woo hoo!)

Oh good, I'm the first one to comment!! This makes me happy only because I'll be the first (and Im completely sure not the last) to tell you that this "doodle" is AMAZING!! You are incredibly talented and my doodle recreating yours would be a stick person...Im not kidding!
Maybe the small hand was not a drawing mistake, however your subconcious showing that a mothers love is so grand that it cannot possibly be held in a single hand!
(Wow, I'm a poet :)
ANYWAYS...its a great drawing!

Don't be embarrassed by your work. I find this piece very beautiful! You have great talent, flaunt it!

I also think it's interesting that we had the same inspiration of motherhood from the word "instinct".

Would you ever consider sending that to me?? lol Seriously, would you make a really nice copy of it and mail it to me? I'll pay you! Please, please? Don't say no! I love artwork, but can't afford any pieces from artists that have already figured out how frickin' talented they are LOL And, I would so much rather hang your stuff on my wall. OMG, what can I do to make you say yes? Can I commission you to do more? Seriously, say yes and then just do it ... please???

Sketching in ink is terrifying at first but you'll learn to like it. There's no net and you'll learn to trust your arm.

It's obviously a self portrait. Nice job little T.

Oh bummer. I typed a big long reply, and erased it by clicking "post."

I'm even more embarrassed now with all of this lovely validation. Thank you, thank you, thank you! All I need is a little flattery... now I'm hooked. There's even a slang term: "illo?" Even cooler.

Amy: SOLD! To the highest flatterer. It actually is folded to fit in the... erm... shoebox, but the creases are outside of the ILLO, so I can cut it and send it to you. You always make me feel talented, always have. :)
